Chasing Sunrises.....Keys Passed, Hearts Full: Our Atlantic Inn Chapter Closes & New Adventures Begin!

If you’ve been along for the ride with us here at The Atlantic Inn, you'll know by now that this place has been so much more than four walls and a historic roof... it’s been our heartbeat, our wild adventure, our cozy haven where magic happens over sunrise coffees. But oh, friends, buckle up because today’s post comes with some big, exciting (and yes, a tad emotional) news!
Picture this - JB and I are out on the front porch again, our trusty mugs in hand, watching that golden Hatteras sun climb over the horizon like it’s got all the time in the world. Bodie and Pumpkin are lounging like they own the place (which, let’s be honest, they kinda do). It’s one of those mornings that fills your soul to the brim... but today, it’s also buzzing with that thrill of new beginnings. Because, drumroll please... we’ve sold The Atlantic Inn!
Yes, you read that right. After all the soul-searching, the whispers (and shouts!) from life about chasing those sunrises, and the bittersweet decision to list the inn, we’ve found some great stewards to carry on her legacy. It wasn’t easy letting go – this inn has been our everything for the past five years – but we know it’s time to turn the page and dive into the next chapter. First things first, though… a massive, heartfelt THANK YOU!!!!! to all our incredible guests who’ve graced our doors over these years. You’ve come from near and far – every corner of the US and beyond – sharing stories over JB’s legendary French toast, laughing through those impromptu porch gatherings, and letting the Atlantic Effect weave its spell. So many of you have become dear friends, the kind we swap texts with long after checkout, or run into on the beach for hugs and hellos. You’ve celebrated with us, commiserated during the tough times (like losing our beloved Bailey and JB’s parents), and made this adventure feel like one big, extended family reunion. We couldn’t have done it without you – you’ve been the heart and soul of The Atlantic Inn, and we’re forever grateful.
What an awesome ride it’s been here in Hatteras! From rescuing this 1928 gem from its leaky, creaky days (remember those early renovation sagas? The bathtub that tried to flood the Starboard room, or the deck rails that were one gust away from surrender?....highly reminiscent of the film "The Money Pit"!), to turning it into a serene escape where stress melts like butter on a hot biscuit. We’ve dished up thousands of breakfasts, earned those shiny TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards year after year, kept our Superhost stripes on Airbnb, and nailed every health inspection with flying colors – not too shabby for a couple of ex-clinical research professionals turned innkeepers, right? We’ve laughed through the chaos (well mostly :o), marveled at the wonderful connections we’ve made, and soaked in this incredible and beautiful island’s magic every single day. But as I’ve always said, our restless spirits don’t stay put forever. It’s time for new adventures, and we’re beyond excited to hit the road in our trusty RV, wandering the incredible landscapes of the USA (and who knows, maybe even chasing some Scottish sunrises or finally making it to the Shetland Islands!). We’ll be seeking out our next home base along the way – no rush, just pure exploration, adding to our “Sunrises to Chase” whiteboard as we go. And when we’re not out adventuring? I’ll be spending time indulging my love of all things equestrian and pouring my heart into finalizing the project that’s been bubbling away for so long: launching my book, a new blog and website, and unveiling so much more that I can’t wait to share with you all. Stay tuned – it’s going to be epic!
This isn’t goodbye to Hatteras or to all of you – far from it. We’ll still be sharing updates from the road on the new blog, because our story is just evolving and of course Hatteras will always hold a particularly magical and special place in my heart. Thank You, Thank you, Thank You from the depths of our hearts, to the incredible community of Hatteras Village, the awesome restaurants who have delighted us with their fantastic culinary creations, our wonderful and faithful guests, and to those that have become very, very special friends to us (you know who you are :o), for being part of this chapter. You’ve made it unforgettable, and we can’t wait to see where our paths cross next – maybe over a campfire somewhere or perhaps chasing the same horizon 💕

Until then, keep chasing those sunrises!
Love and Hugs,
Pam, JB, Bodie, and Pumpkin 🥰

Please let me introduce the family stepping into our shoes as the new owners of The Atlantic Inn. We couldn’t be happier handing over the keys to folks who’ll cherish this historic beauty and keep the magic alive for years to come. We wish them every success in their innkeeping journey – may it be filled with as many joyful sunrises, guest friendships, and awesome porch moments as ours has been!
So it's a truly a grateful goodbye from my writing pen.....Hopefully I'll see a few of you on my new blog (I'll send the link to those that I have contact e-mails for as soon as it goes live).
And now I'll hand it over to the pen of the new owners,

We’re thrilled to introduce the new owners of The Atlantic Inn – Jason and Holly Andrzejewski of Avon, NC!
With a shared passion for hospitality and genuine connection, Jason and Holly are bringing a heartfelt, family-centered approach to this beloved Hatteras Island getaway.
Jason, a seasoned lender, and Holly, a dedicated realtor, have long shared a love for helping
people feel at home - whether that’s through finding the perfect house or creating the kind of stay that guests will remember forever. Having owned and managed vacation properties in the past, they know just how important it is for visitors to feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for.
Their goal is simple: to make The Atlantic Inn feel like home from the moment you arrive.
But it’s not just Jason and Holly stepping in - running the inn is a true family affair. Their
daughter Katie and her boyfriend Mitch are taking on the role of innkeepers. Katie, a nurse by training, and Mitch, who comes from a background in sales, are trading the fast-paced life of Chicago for the laid-back charm of island living. Their energy, warmth, and heart for service will be felt in every detail, from the way your room is prepared to the way you’re greeted at the door. And keep an eye out for Lex, Jason and Holly’s youngest daughter, lending a hand around the property this summer. She’s starting Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall, but she’ll still be around helping out and adding her creative energy to the inn whenever she can.
The Atlantic Inn is entering an exciting new era, grounded in family, community, and the same Southern hospitality that’s made it a favorite for years. Whether you’re a longtime guest or a first-time visitor, we can’t wait for you to experience the warmth, comfort, and hospitality that is the new Atlantic Inn.
Thanks,
Holly, Jason, Katie & Mitch and Lex
